Building a new home in Perth

Building a home in Perth is a very popular way to get the ideal home to suit your needs. It is also very popular with UK migrants as it is easy to do in comparison to the UK.

When we arrived in June 2004 we decided to build our own home. By July 2004 we had paid a deposit on a block of land and then the fun began looking for our dream home.

The building process is as listed below:

  1. Find the land, pay a deposit
  2. Find a house that you like and that will fit on the land and pay a deposit for it
  3. When the title for the land has been issued you then need to pay 100% of the value of the land at which point the homebuilder is allowed to start building on the land
  4. The homebuilder will then start to lay the foundations and then it is all up from there

Once you have paid for the land all you have to do is pay for the house. This gets paid in different stages and usually over five payments: Foundations, Walls, Roof, Lockup and handover of the keys.

The one thing you must remember when you are looking at show houses is that they are all decorated and have had interior designers working on them. When your home is complete you are given a shell. You have to paint the walls do the floors, garden etc. You can however get the builder to do these things for you at an extra charge.

Building a house will take approximately 12 months from when the titles on the land are issued.

Quality Migrations have contacts with land sales and builders and can assist you on the exciting journey of building your dream home if you request.
