Renting a home in Perth

Renting a home in Perth is what most people do when the first arrive in Perth.

This gives you time to settle in to the way of life in Perth and in turn helping you make a decision on where to build, purchase or to find long term rental accommodation.

There are different types of rentals that you can get and they are long term (min 6 months) and short term (1 week onwards).

As well as the duration difference you will pay a lot more money for a short term rental as they are usually furnished. The normal price of long term rental accommodation is between $300-$450 per week where short term can cost you $500 + per week.

When you first sign up for the rental, the landlord will charge you a bond. This bond is usually four weeks rent and the landlord will put the bond in to a ‘Tenancy Bond Account’ with the State Government’s Bond Administrator.

The bond money is then kept in the Tenancy Bond Account for the duration of the rental agreement. After you have vacated the rental accommodation the landlord will conduct an inspection of the property and if there is any damage or cleaning requirements they will deduct money from the Bond and use this to rectify the problem. The balance of the Bond will then be returned to you.

Finding rental accommodation is getting harder due to increased interest rates and people not having as much investment properties. Quality Migration can however assist to ensure that everything is in place for when you arrive.
